About Me: Justin received his Doctor of Pharmacy from The Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He is currently a PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership resident. Justin has many professional interests including pharmacy management and operations, opioid stewardship, and advocacy for the profession of pharmacy. Justin’s short-term goal is to help expand opioid stewardship in the acute care setting. His long-term goal is to secure a pharmacy leadership position where he can help create an environment that expands and progresses the practice of pharmacy. Justin enjoys spending time with his family, reading, running, and continuing his entrepreneurial endeavors.

Why Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center: There are a few things that made Justin choose BSLMC. BSLMC is a large, academic institution with a diverse patient population. BSLMC also offers opportunities for regional, state, and national leadership exposure through its affiliation with Catholic Health Initiatives (now CommonSpirit Health). The opportunity to learn how pharmacy practice at one institution can integrate into a state and national framework is a unique experience BSLMC offers. Most importantly, Justin admired the people he would be working with, and truly enjoyed the experiences he has had with the program and its leadership.

Ezimma Nnyagu, PharmD
PGY1/2 Health Systems Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Resident – Year 1

Hometown: Cobb County, Georgia

Education:
Pharmacy School: University of Georgia College of Pharmacy
Undergraduate School: University of Georgia
Other Education: MPH from University of Georgia College of Public Health

Current Research: Measuring Quality: Evaluating Hospital Value-Based Purchasing and Overall Hospital Ratings.

About Me: I love music (particularly, Neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, and enjoys the occasional Lofi tunes while studying! In my spare time, I love to travel both nationally and internationally, dance, listen to podcasts, mentor pharmacy school hopefuls, and most importantly spend time with friends and family.

Why Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center:  Initially, I was drawn to BSLMC because of the institution’s hospital model/structure and patient population. It was very important for me to complete residency training at an academic medical center/hospital system that allowed residents the opportunity to handle acute cases with preceptor guidance. As a future pharmacy leader, I thought it vital to develop a strong working knowledge for clinical concepts in addition to an aptitude for administrative skills on a hospital/health system level. Though I took all these factors into consideration, it was my on-site residency interview that convinced me that BSLMC was a great fit. During the interview, I felt comfortable and found it natural to present my best self.
